1. Product Overview
The HA003-4X-10/16Q type is a self-regulating valve that utilizes the pressure difference across an orifice plate to restrict or regulate the flow after the valve. The set outlet flow is not affected by changes in the inlet flow or pressure. The set flow refers to the maximum flow restricted by the valve outlet, so it can also be referred to as a flow control valve. When the upstream water supply flow is less than the set value, the main valve is fully open, and the valve does not increase the flow. When the downstream pressure is greater than the upstream pressure, the main valve automatically closes to prevent backflow.
The commonly used P values (d/D) for orifice plates are typically between 0.5 to 0.6. In small-hole orifice plates, there is significant head loss. This patent optimizes the design by increasing the B value to 0.8 (i.e., d=0.8D). This reduces the flow velocity at the throttling point, resulting in a reduction of approximately 50% in head loss.
2. Technical Parameters
The flange connection complies with the GB/T 17241.6 standard, and the strength and sealing tests are conducted according to GB/T 13927. The main technical parameters of the tests are provided in Table 1 below, the main component materials are detailed in Table 2 below, and the external appearance is illustrated in Figure 1 below.
3. Operating Principle
1)Opening and closing principle
The orifice plate 1 is installed at the inlet of the main valve (see Figure 2). Through the adjustment of the pressure difference (ΔP) at the two locations of the large hole with a diameter of D and the small hole with a diameter of d in the orifice plate by the pilot valve 5, the pressure in the upper control chamber of the main valve diaphragm is changed. This drives the upward and downward movement of the main valve diaphragm and valve disc, altering the opening of the main valve to meet the flow set downstream. The lower control chamber is connected to the downstream through a fixed hole, ensuring the smooth opening and closing of the main valve.
When the flow is less than the set value, ΔP decreases, the pressure in the upper control chamber of the diaphragm decreases, the valve opening increases, and the flow increases to the set value. Conversely, when the flow is greater than the set value, the process works in the opposite manner.
2)Automatic Check Valve Principle
When the pressure after the valve is greater than the pressure before the valve, the check valve 4 closes (see Figure 2). The pressure water after the valve passes through the check valve 9 and the ball valve. It is timely injected into the upper control chamber of the diaphragm through the control pipeline D, causing the main valve to automatically close slowly.
4. Main Characteristics

Because the typical P values (D/d) of orifice plates are typically between 0.5 to 0.6, using an orifice plate for pressure tapping results in significant head loss at the small hole throttling point. This patent can raise the P value to 0.8 (i.e., d=0.8D).
