Flow Coefficient

       The flow coefficient of a valve is a measure of its flow capacity, with a higher coefficient indicating less pressure loss as fluid passes through the valve. The coefficient varies with the size, shape, and structure of the valve, requiring separate tests for different types and specifications of valves to determine their specific coefficient values. For valves with the same structure, the coefficient can also vary depending on the direction of fluid flow due to differences in pressure recovery.

       The table below shows the flow coefficients for triple eccentric butterfly valves, providing a reference for selecting valve coefficients. The Cv value represents the US gallons per minute of water flowing through the valve at +60°F (+18°C) and a pressure drop of 1 pound per square inch (0.006894757 MPa).
